MPS ACADEMY
MPS is a National & World Champion engineering company with a passion for motorsport
Our Mission is to enable all Motorsport Enthusiasts to have access to & benefit from the latest Motorsport technology – Whether it be a hobbyist motorsport enthusiasts looking to improve their home built pride & joy through to budding engineers looking to start a new career in the in Motorsport Industry.
We initially created the Acadmey out of necessity,. There currently exists a double edged sword within motorsport engineering of not enough competent engineers currently working within the industry, resulting in teams struggling to find experienced staff for their programmes, whilst at the same time enthusiastic but inexperienced engineers are struggling to break into the industry and find opportunities to gain the experience necessary to work at the highest levels.
Our Academy Program offers a variety of training courses focused on Motorsport Engineering. The students will benefit from our World Champion experiences and have access to our sizeable contacts book to help discover work opportunites once successfully completing the course(s). We will also continue to support graduates of our courses as they begin their new motorsport engineering journeys.
The teams will then benefit from knowing that they have a staff member that has received high quality training and also has the backup of MPS’ vast experience continuing to support the Academy graduate whilst their own experience levels grow.
MPS has created a number of courses to suit a wide range of abilities and previous experience levels. The focus of our courses is centred around modern motorsport electronics and data systems as well as utilising the logged data to take an analytical and data driven approach to improving the car, driver and team performance.
Our courses combine both theoretical and real world practical information and examples to allow the student to be competent on completion of the course and ready to work within the motorsport industry (if they so choose) or practically apply their new knowledge to their own project etc.
Our courses are suitable for a wide range of individuals, including;
- Experienced Motorsport Technicians looking to step up their experience and knowledge base to the latest motorsport technologies or maybe progress into Engineering Roles.
- Current data engineers looking to boost their current knowledge levels or learn a new data system.
- Racing drivers looking to improve their knowledge of the science behind performance driving and becoming more self succient with their own data analysis.
- Motorsport enthusiasts and hobbyists that are looking to improve their own knowledge of their favoured sport and understand the latest tech behind it to apply to their own projects and driving.
Our courses are also very beneficial to current higher education students. Our techniques and experiences from the real world of professional motorsport will compliment any theoretical knowledge gained in lectures etc. but with the added benefit of links to a large number of race teams and professional motorsport competitors, which will help with kick starting your motorsport engineering career.
The delivery of our courses is adaptable and can be tailored to support our customer’s needs. The possibilites range from 1 – 1 on site at our customer’s chosen location through to group classes at a commercial location booked by MPS and everything in between.
MPS ACADEMY COURSES
Introduction to Motorsport Electronics & Data Logging Course
A broad ranging course designed to give an overview of all of the various terminoloy and technology involved in modern day motorsport electronics and how to select which technology is right for you and your project.
This course also introduces the basic principles and skills involved with Data Analysis in Motorsport.
Professional Motorsport Data Engineering Course
Expanding on the Introduction course, this course gives a more in depth look into the various analysis techniques involved with data engineering in motorsport and a practical guide to the various responsibilities involved with a role as a Data Engineer in a professional race team.
Graduates of this course should expect to be able to competently work with common customer race cars such as GT4 Category cars, Porsche Cup cars and F4 and F3 level Single Seaters.
Advanced Motorsport Data Engineering & Performance Engineering Course
An expansion of our Professional Motorsport Data Engineering Course to include the advance features and sensors sets involved with cars at the top end of the professional motorsport engineering world. Roles at this level usually expand beyond just data engineering and this course covers the additional responsibilities for a Data / Performance / Systems Engineer
Graduates of this course should expect to be able to competently work with advanced professional race cars such as GT3, BTCC, LMP, GTE & F2 category vehicles.
Professional Cosworth Pi Toolbox Training Course
With Cosworth Electronics being spec’ed on a wide range of homologated customer racing vehicles it is imperative as a modern motorsport engineer to gain an in-depth understanding of their Pi Toolbox Data Analysis Software.
As Power users of Pi Toolbox, we give you a comprehensive overview of all the commonly used features and functionalities found within Pi Toolbox, ranging from the basic importing of data through to Multi-sheet Workbook creation and Maths Channel creation.
In addition to the Pi Toolbox training, we also go through the basic functionality within the Pi Toolset calibration and data extraction software that comes with manufacturer limited electronics systems, such as those used in Porsche Cup Cars etc.
Advanced Cosworth Electronics Training Course
An advanced extension of our Professional Pi Toolbox training course. We cover Telemetry setup and operation and some of the advanced maths operators within the software.
We also cover in a lot more depth the features available within the Pi Toolset calibration software associated with unlocked and unrestriced Cosworth chassis side data logger and Power Distribution devices.
Data Analysis & Motorsport Engineering for Drivers Course
A combination of our Introduction to Data Logging and Professional Data Engineering courses but with a focus purely on the data analysis and science associated with Performance Driving.
Designed for driver’s without a technology or engineering background to easily understand, this courses mixes just the right amount of science based principles with the practical information required for effectively analysing and improving a driver’s on track performance and reducing their lap times.
Engineer Mentoring
The life of a Motorsport Engineer can be a hugely appealing and rewarding career path to be involved in but, from the outside, the combination of High Octane Adrenaline Rushes, Big Budgets and some Bigger Ego’s can make it seem a daunting industry to get involved in.
With over 15 years experience within the industry, having started at the bottom of the ladder with no previous contacts or connections, MPS are ideally poised to help guide budding engineers through the training process and help them establish themselves as a respected engineer within the industry.
Our knowledge of the education system, real world experience and large contacts book allow us to offer expert career advice and information to allow you to build towards your goal of a career as a professional motorsport engineer.
MPS ACADEMY TECH BLOG
Here you will find tech articles and blog posts written by MPS to better help you understand the latest from the world of Motorsport technology and how you can apply that to improve your own Motorsport Performance.
These posts are designed to give you snippets of information from the various different subjects that we cover in our MPS Academy to help you decide as to whether these courses are suitable for you.

Analogue Sensors
Analogue sensors are sensors which provide continuous outputs and varying values depending on the state of the system that they are measuring. For example, a driver’s input on the throttle can vary from anywhere between 0% (closed) and 100% (fully open) and therefore...
