OUR STORY
MPS is owned and run by Company Director Ben Newman and was formed in 2016. The company is the culmination of Ben’s 15+ years of experience working within the motorsport industry.
MPS are predominantly a Motorsport Engineering company, with particular Expertise in Motorsport Electronics and Performance Engineering.
We have a strong history of driver development through data analysis.
MPS’ relatively short existence is filled with big achievements and we are proud to say that we were part of an international team of people which won an FIA World Championship as well as National teams which have secured various European and National individual Event and Whole Championship successes too.
The fast paced, “Can-Do”, data driven attitude required for success in Motorsport Engineering also carries over into many other industries, with MPS having been involved in projects for the Hotel industry and the Autonomous driving industry too, alongside our Motorsport Programmes.

BEN NEWMAN BEng (Hons)
Ben’s entire working life has been involved with Motorsport, with a strategic combination of practical and theoretical experiences designed to best help him learn about and compete at the highest levels of his Passion of Motorsport.
He started his working life as an apprentice engine builder at renowned Competition Engine Builder Field Motorsport, learning many practical “hands-on” techniques and practices that apply to competition engine building and tuning.
To supplement his practical experience he enroled at a specialist Motorsport Engineering college in order to open up further opportunities in Higher Education to study for an Engineering Degree.
Ben accepted a place at the University of Hertfordshire on their highly celebrated Motorsport Engineering course, a University that was known for also having one of the best Formula Student Teams in the country.
In preparation for the degree course, Ben sought to gain experience working for a larger engineering company and joined world renowned Kit Car manufacturer, Caterham. There he built the race engines for, and supported their customers in, their Top Tier R300 Championship.
This role gave Ben his first flavour of Motorsport Electronics and data analysis, which would go on to shape his future career.
The first two years of his engineering degree flew by and he was soon looking for work placement opportunities as part of the Sandwich Year component of his course.
With thousands of engineering students looking for these sought after placement positions, competition was tight and it was necessary to apply for number of positions.
Ben passed through the rigorous interview process for the prestigious Ford placement scheme. From an application pool of 1000’s Ben was just 1 of 5 engineers to be accepted onto the engineering scheme with the Automotive giant.
His role was within the engine calibration department, working for a small team where he instrumented development vehicles with sensors, performed precision driving manoeuvres on their own test tracks and then analysed the logged data to assess the vehicle’s drivability.
Ben also caught the eye of the Porsche Motorsport GB Technical Manager with his application process. Alongside his role with Ford, he also joined Porsche GB’s technical support team as a Junior Data Engineer and worked as part of the team supporting the prestigious Porsche Carrera Cup GB and GT3 Cup Challenge Championships in the UK.
Ben impressed the team at Porsche on his Placement year and stayed working as part of the technical support team for the remainder of his University Studies.
Ben returned to the University of Herts, after a successful placement year and completed his Motorsport Engineering Degree.
With a 1st class score for his Final Year Project, focused on the engine calibration of the Uni’s Formula Student Team’s race engine, Ben graduated from the University as a Bachelor of Engineering with a 1st Class with Honours degree classification.
On completion of his degree, Ben was offered a graduate position with world famous Motorsport Engineering company Cosworth, working as an Applications Engineer within their Electronics department.
This was to be an intensive and rewarding role that afforded him the opportunity to work with some of the Motorsport arms of the world’s largest Automotive Manufacturers, helping them to develop and support their own customer race cars whilst also working with the latest motorsport technologies.
Being at the forefront of Motorsport Technology with large Motorsport Manufacturers many a NDA was signed and some of his most exciting projects at Cosworth he can’t talk about but it’s fair to say he was involved at some of the highest levels of the Motorsport Industry.
There are other common knowledge but just as prestigious projects, that he worked on, many of which are still competing today, including: Porsche 991 GT3 Cup, BMW M6 GT3, Bentley GT3, RenaultSport Clio Cup, Aston Martin GT3, NGTC BTCC and Ford WRC.
With a desire to compete directly with some of the cars and technologies that he helped to develop, he left Cosworth to form MPS at the end of 2016.
